The self-build homes designed by Architect Walter Segal have caught my eye many years ago: Individuality within a strict architectural framework, light flooded spaces, exposed materials and structures and a wild jungle of green surrounding the dwellings.
When the opportunity arose to shoot with Photographer Taran Wilkhu in his home at Segal Close I couldn't get more excited. We had been searching for a space with natural clay walls in order bring the depth of a clay wall finish and sheen of our silk lampshades together. Taran and Celine have added a new photo studio to their house. This new space features exceptional light conditions and amazing clay walls installed by Guy Valentine. An opening in the ceiling sheds unexpected light onto our silk and hemp lampshades.
Many thanks to Taran and Celine for their hospitality and those most joyful hours at their home.
The white lampshade shows Ni-Ni in a silk & hemp finish where the brass coloured lampshade is made with100% silk dupion from James Hare in a "Mirabelle" colour shade. All photos by Taran Wilkhu.
